iPhoto Organization Tips For 2010

iphoto_showintoolbar.jpgTip #001 - By default, many of the icons at the base of the iPhoto window are turned off. To turn on all of the icons, go to the Menu Bar at the top of the screen, select View and then scroll down and choose "Show in Toolbar" Make your selection and repeat for each item in the list. When these are selected a checkmark will appear next to the option, and the corresponding icon will show up in the Toolbar at across the bottom of the window. Once you have all these selections checked, it will be much easier for you to manipulate creating your albums, books, calendars, cards, etc by clicking on these icons.

iPhoto and GSP

FotoFind, a new plugin for iPhoto, is now in public beta testing. Fotofind allows you to add location information from a GPX file directly to iPhoto. Currently, it only updates the iPhoto library, NOT the images themselves.

It's useful if you have GPS tracks from where you have been and want to add that info to iPhoto without manually adding places. Website: Nestyra.com

iPhoto plugin Lightbrush

LightBrush for iPhoto is a new 'local' image editing capabilities to iPhoto. Brushes available are Dodge, Burn, Underexpose, Overexpose, Desaturate, Saturate, Increase Contrast, Fade Contrast. There are controls for adjusting the brush size, brush softness and brush strength. Of course the original files are not altered. Edited photos are automatically imported in iPhoto as copies of the original image. Give this great new iPhoto plugin a try by downloading from Blue Crowbar Software (makers of the amazing and long awaited Impression watermark plugin)

Above is an example of using the "overexpose" setting to lighten up the subjects faces from the original. Subtle, but effective.
